Analytics Data Architect | Finance | Northern Suburbs

They are currently looking for an Analytics Data Architect. Your purpose is to play a leading architectural role in our clients’ data and analytics initiatives in order to manage their data assets and to extract maximum business value from our data.

Job description

Success in the role will require excellent data and information architecture capabilities, with a specific focus on data in an analytical context; understanding of business and how the data supports the business processes; strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish, build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and to communicate in a clear, concise, unambiguous, engaging, and convincing manner; leadership abilities within in a small highly specialized team, establishing scalable and practical architectural frameworks and standards, data management best practices and overseeing project delivery of specialized projects, as well as within the organization, by aligning with IT and other teams, taking responsibility for selected cross functional data initiatives and being a promoter of data best practices within the broader company.


Key Performance Areas for this role are:

Strategic thinking

Be a thought leader in the data, information and analytics architecture space and pro-actively help define the strategy for the team 


Responsible for the data sourcing and loading framework into the analytics data environment

Responsible for the data storage framework, that includes the data warehouse and other structured and unstructured data repositories within the analytics data environment

Responsible for the integration interface framework between the analytics data environment and external parties like Analytics, IT and 3rd parties

Provide guidance and establish best practices related to data modelling in the analytics data environment

Provide guidance and input into organisation wide data management and governance practices

Provide guidance and input into information lifecycle management practices

Work closely with IT Architecture and the DBA team to ensure alignment and the ongoing implementation of data best practices

Systems, technology and tools

Provide guidance and input into selecting, implementing and using data and analytical systems and tools to ensure best practices are followed and there is alignment with broader organisational architecture strategy

Research latest technologies related to data management, data presentation and analytics and advise on adoption where appropriate

Work closely with IT architecture and operations to ensure the appropriate operational and architectural infrastructure and technology alignment

Provide guidance into the appropriate operational monitoring of systems and processes in the analytics data environment in order to effectively manage the environment and ensure maximum data availability
Business analytics and data science
Provide data and information architecture guidance and input into new business process implementations or changes to existing solutions• Support analysts with data modelling and information architecture projects
Influence data, business and technology stakeholders regarding best practices and standards related to data and information management
Project Management
Effective planning and prioritising of own work and that of a project team. Projects will typically include data and analytics projects within the department, as well as some cross functional data projects• Ensure relevant stakeholders are involved in projects and that they are informed of progress and issues• Build relationships 


• Degree in Information Technology / Engineering / Mathematics / Statistics / Actuarial or related discipline
• At least 8 years’ experience working in a data, business intelligence or analytics environment
