DataOps Engineer

They are currently looking for a DataOps Engineer to join their team.

Job description

Reporting to the DevOps Manager, you will form part of our clients’ DataOps team. You will be required to live and breathe Business Application Data Collection and Data Integrity. You will work closely with the DevOps and Development teams ensuring that new code deployment meets the data logging requirement.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

Understand the message queuing & logging environment, not limited to RMQ, Kafka and Elasticsearch

Work with stakeholders to understand their logging and monitoring needs, specifically focused on key business metrics that impact customer experience or financial revenue.

Utilize Machine Learning from X-Pack to define anomaly detection alerts that trigger on critical business events reducing need for manual monitoring checks.

Analyse and improve Search performance by improving indexing strategies

Develop and deploy Advanced Search and Aggregation techniques

Work with the Engineering team to develop robust monitoring and health checks with self-healing capabilities

Grow expert-level knowledge, creating documentation and collaborating with other teams

Serve as the Message Queuing & Logging subject matter expert

Perform design reviews and consult with internal teams to ensure best practices

Serve as an escalation point for on-call rotation for your specialty

Drives Logging development standards and best practices across the engineering organization

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Information Technology industry using Microsoft Technologies
• Previous experience in 24/7 E-commerce Environment
• Proven hands on experience with Windows Server and its product suite
• Experience in using coding/scripting to automate/reduce time taken to complete manual tasks
• Previous architecting and administration of an Elasticsearch cluster
• A relevant Information Technology tertiary qualification and Microsoft Certifications advantageous
• Experience on-boarding and managing technologies like Distributed Search/Logging (ElasticSearch, Kibana, Beats & Logstash) and Message Queueing Technologies (RabbitMQ & Kafka)
• Creating consumers and producers for multiple message queuing platforms
• Release Engineering (GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus, npm)
• Watcher experience is a plus
• Exposure to BI and Data Modelling
• Experience with Programming languages, JAVA is a plus
