Job description
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Computer Science or related technical qualification such as MCSE and assume overall responsibility for the delivery of strategy, service and infrastructure to the business, including:
• Vendor management.
• Full desktop management function.
• Exposure to Exchange 2010
• Exposure to Microsoft threat management gateway.
This is a management level role, reporting directly to the Finance Director and encompasses all aspects of information technology and systems, including:
• System availability: minimised downtime, capacity management, vendor management, wireless network and VPN systems maintained in line with vendor SLA.
• Service delivery: out sourced service desk, troubleshooting system faults and errors, hardware and software management consolidation.
• System security: backups, antivirus, firewalls, disaster recovery programmes, business continuity plans, server room infrastructures, software registries.
• Financial management: budget management, capital expenditure requirements defined and managed effective asset management.
• Infrastructure for business systems: high speed internal WAN network, server room installation and security and UPS.
• New system development and implementation: user requirements scoped, RFP processes managed, provider / vendor selection, contract negotiation, project planning, user training / testing, PI reviews, ROI analyses. Some Sharepoint knowledge required.
• Team management: on-site and external staff co-ordination.
• Security / access / infrastructure management including telephony (VOIP, telephone management reporting system), security and access systems, cabling maintenance / rerouting.
The ideal candidate would boast big-picture thinking ability in developing IT strategy in support of the Company’s mission, but also command above average trouble shooting and problem solving skills towards ensuring system availability and support for the Company’s business applications.
The candidate would be a key member of the management team, able to lead by example and instill confidence through ‘hands-on’ action orientation and a strong work ethic.
